The Arithmetic of Change, a question of attitude, not technology", You Must Watch This Video!!

My good friend Melinda Brown told me about this video by Sugata Mitra which is remarkably compelling to me. Its implication for educators and education are amazing. I will not dilute it's impact with a review or rhetorical rephrasing.

Allow me please to allude to my favorite quotes from the talk:

  1. "A teacher that can be replaced by a machine, should be."
  2. "If children have interest, then education happens." (Arthur C. Clarke)
  3. "the Arithmetic of Change, a question of attitude, not technology"

Please share this video with your colleagues and your students, and ask them how your school will change.

  1. Wow, there sure are lots of great ideas in this. I'm really interested and buying into this way of thinking and learning. I can see how effective this could be in teaching, now the trick is to put it into play. This is what I'm finding difficult with the 'restrictions' down here. Sask seems to be in a good place with keeping open to continual growth in education. I'm really excited about the possibilities and opportunities that are ahead of me in my career. As long as you keep your passion and commitment in breaking this new ground. Keep up the good fight and I'll be back because I defiantly want to be a part of this.

  2. This is great Tim. I really shows the value in engaging the students and teaching them how to learn rather than having them memorize answers. Our classroom is heading in the right direction.
